for being outside but it also seems to be the time of the year when the Ants also come out to play .
Ants and Termites are some the most challenging things a Pest controller will have to deal with .
When Ants become a real problem you will see them inside your home & cupboards or they will
have taken over your outdoor living areas , .
People will go to there local shop and buy some Ant killer , Spray them and see Dead Ants everywhere .
That feeling of a job well done soon turns sour when we soon see them back , often worse than ever .
The fact is , and it goes against logical thinking , that if you use a product and it Kills the Ants then that
product might not be the best option and will only push the problem somewhere else .
With Pest Control you have "Repellent and Non- Repellent " actives in the products you can get .
Most products you buy from the shop or hardware stores use a Repellent active .
These will kill the Ants but they won't take it back to the nest to deal with the real problem .
With "Repellent" products the Insects/Ants/Spiders will sense the product and try and stay away from it .
"Non-Repellent" products on the other hand won't kill straight away and the Insects/Ants/Spiders don't know
they are moving through it .
They then take the Bait , Gel or Spray they have gone through back to the nest and active starts to kill them
at a later time .
The insects don't know were the polluted food has come from and will wipe out the whole nest .
Non-Repellent Sprays though typically have a shorter life span than say the Repellent Actives I use in a General Pest
Spray and wont leave a barrier around your home but they will fix Ant and Cockroach problems.
Ants require there own treatment to get them under control.
Often though at this time of the year people will want a treatment to control a Bad Ant problem and want
to control Spiders and have some longer term control in place for Insects.
In this case we need to get rid of the Ants first and then do a General Pest Spray and treatment about 3 weeks later .
A General Pest Spray needs to be a Repellent type because we want a longer lifespan for the spray and we want to push
the Spiders and Insects away from our homes .
95% of my customers who get a General Pest spray yearly don't get bad Ant problems because they try and stay away from the Spray and most times only Ant Baits are required to fix any problems ..
TIP : If you are buying products from the Hardware store or shop then try and buy products which use "Fipronil" as there active .
