Wind & Spiders in Adelaide

3/10/2020

Well it’s Mad March and Adelaide is alive and buzzing. We’re out and enjoying the outdoors while we can and having a lot of fun. Thing is, so are the Spiders.

March is traditionally a windy time. It’s also a time of changeable weather here in Adelaide. Wind, warmth, wet – all things that will bring spiders out in their own right. Add them together and it’s like the perfect Spider storm!

With our leafy suburbs, we have a number of gorgeous trees in our yards, trees are a favourite home to Spiders – especially Hunstmans. When the wind blows, their homes shake rattle & roll and the spiders look for somewhere a little less disruptive. Somewhere like your letter box or inside your home.

With the warm weather, and the cold weather coming, we are outside entertaining. That means that we are cleaning up entertaining areas, under tables & chairs or around BBQs. All of these areas are the preferred homes to black spiders or worse, red-back spiders.

Then there’s the time we spend cleaning up the garden, removing the last of the Summer crops, tidying up, or getting ready for Winter crops. Again, we disturb Spiders who love hiding in the leaf litter, make their homes in plants, or bury themselves in the ground.

Autumn can also bring heavy rains as tropical storms move South and bring downpours. Now we all know what happened to Incy Wincy, and your Adelaide home is no different. Wet weather, and heavy downpours, knock spiders from trees, flush them from the ground, and
upset any homes they may have made on your roof or gutters over our dry Summer.

So what can you do to stop the Spiders finding a warm dry home inside your house?

Other than keeping the area around your home clear from rubbish and webs, the next best thing is to deter them from setting up home in the first place.

Regular spider sprays stop Spiders in their tracks and help reduce nests and the next generation of Spiders.

A General Pest Spray is another handy solution. The general spray not only reduces Spider numbers but also the insects they prey on. Now that’s a win-win for you and your home.

If you’re ready to say bye to Spiders, then use our online booking system to choose a time to suit you. Oh and don’t worry about the cost either, we can organize budget friendly payment terms through our Jim Pay Plan powered by OpenPay
