Why those dirty Rats!

Autumn is here and the Rats are starting to migrate to our Roof Voids as they always do this time of Year – you may even see them in your garden, or worse, hear them in your roof.

The First Rains we get and they will explode in numbers. This Autumn Season is going to be different, the Long-Range Forecast is for it to be Dry right through to the middle of Winter but it doesn’t mean that it’s not cold and the rats are looking for warm nesting places. Like your roof, floor, or wall cavities.

You may think that the Rats are in larger numbers but we’ve not seen an increase. What we have noticed is that with this nicer weather, we humans are spending more time outside and that means more chances to see the rats than normal.

We humans aren’t the only ones making the most of the nicer weather. With the warm weather, the Rats are running around – all very normal as they forage in the gardens now. Not so normal for people to still be outside!!

What can you do?

Pick up any fallen fruit and leaf litter that might be hanging around. Make sure that bins and composting materials are secured.

If you are hearing scampering in the roof already, then make sure to give MD Pest Control a call on or book your Rat baiting service now. Early attention to rats will save them causing a mess in your roof, or worse damaging wires and other items in the roof void – which can cost you dearly.

Rat baiting can also be combined with a general spray to keep the spiders down. We are seeing an increase in spiders with the continuing warm weather – even with the rains. Call us now to discuss packaging your rat baiting and general spray together in one service.
