What snakes and rats have in common

Summer has come late and hit Adelaide hard, and I really hope you've been handling it ok.

I've had a number of people contact me after seeing snakes in their yard this Summer, so it seems that we're not the only ones to be thrown by this hot weather.

Removing snakes is definitely one for the experts and I recommend you call Aira from A.R.E on 0447 100 855. He is very easy to get along with and his prices are about the best you can get here in Adelaide.

Just quietly, I'd rather not see a snake in my yard at all. There are a few things bringing the snakes in, even in to the house!

In a 'strange but true' fact, snakes getting inside a home are attracted to the cold air conditioning. Seems, they want to get out of the heat too.

The other thing attracting the snakes is mice and other rodents.

There's a few things you can do to keep the rodents down and the snakes away.

Mice and other rodents are looking for shelter from the heat and easy sources of food. This is why you might be seeing more activity in your house. But be warned! They're outside for sure!

Clearing up rubbish, leaf litter, pet food and other food sources in the yard will help keep the rats, mice and other rodents down.

Some suggestions are:
       - dead heading seed pods forming on the plants in the garden! Get out there in the cooler hours and dead head your plants, you're roses will thank you with a new blush of blooms later in the season.
      - remove damaged fruit from fruit trees and place them in a closed bin or see if you can salvage part to use in your kitchen
     - if you have Rodent stations fitted, remember to re-bait (only $90), and if you don't have them I am very happy to quote you and I am offering a saving if you add them to a General Pest Spray.

So, with these jobs done and Aira's number nearby there's hope that you won't end up like this Queensland family: https://www.news.com.au/technology/science/animals/brisbane-family-find-python-inside-their-toilet/news-story/42107754483f6547dea7818b0205ebd6

Tammy & I would like to thank you for your support through 2018 and I wanted to quickly remind you that I am happy to take your calls up to 10pm. Don't forget that you can also that our website takes pest control bookings and you get to choose a time to suit you.
